Traveling to unfamiliar destinations can bring to you the sort of troubles you do not want to experience while on the road namely: robbery, rape, or murder. Tourists often fall prey to perpetrators because they do not prepare properly before embarking on a trip. Let’s examine some things you should do to prevent your travels from becoming a tragedy:

1. Never list your home address on the luggage tag. If on business, put the company’s address on the tag; if visiting friends you can list their address. Use covered luggage tags as well.
2. Stay with your luggage until the luggage is checked. If you must put your bag down, keep one foot on the handle.
3. Carry important papers with you; NEVER check anything that you simply cannot afford to lose. Photocopy your passport, driver’s license and credit cards.
4. Bring a small flashlight. You never know when you’ll suddenly be “in the dark” and find yourself in unfamiliar surroundings. At night, keep your flashlight by your bed.
5. Make sure that your prescription medicines are filled properly and labeled accurately. In some countries certain prescription medicines are forbidden.
6. Never wear anything that projects affluence. No gold chains, expensive watches and rings, luggage, or other paraphernalia should be in easy view. Better yet: leave your jewelry at home.
7. If possible travel with only one or two credit cards.
8. Women particularly should never accept a drink from a stranger. Keep an eye on your drink at all times.
9. Vary your schedule; try not to come and go at the same time everyday.
10. Only stay in a hotel that uses cards to open room doors and make sure your room has a peephole and a deadbolt lock. Secure the chain and secure the door by pushing a rubber stop under it.
11. Stay in a room near a stairwell. Never take the elevator if a fire or smoke is detected. Always stay in a hotel where the doors enter the hallway and not directly from the outside.
12. Do not wear name tags in public.
13. Do not use unmarked taxi cabs.
14. Sit behind the driver so you can see him, but he cannot see you.
15. Pay the driver upon arriving at your destination and while you are still sitting in the vehicle.
16. If you must rent a car, rent only from a reputable company. Any operating problems that occur could signal sabotage.
17. Be aware of ’staged’ car accidents meant to catch you off card.
18. Back into your parking spaces to facilitate a quick exit.
19. Park only in well lit and well traveled areas.
20. If your cell phone does not work outside of the country, consider renting one that does for the duration of your trip.
21. If detained for whatever reason by an official, ask for identification. If in doubt, tell them that you want to see his superior. Keep your emotions in check.
22. If traveling with children, bring along an updated photograph of each child in the event that you become separated from them.
23. Write your child’s name and your hotel number on each card; include a close friend’s or relative’s contact information on the card. Give a card to each child which they will carry with them as long as you are away. Destroy once home.
24. Discuss with your family what they would do in event of an emergency while away from home, e.g. whom to call, how to contact emergency personnel, etc.
25. Do not discuss travel plans, your room number or any other personal information in public within earshot of strangers.
26. Bring along a basic first aid kit with bandages, iodine, mosquito repellant, sunscreen, alcohol packets, dramamine, pepto bismol, diarrhea medicine, etc.
27. Familiarize yourself with train and bus schedules before traveling. Have an alternate plan in place in the event your transportation plans change.
28. Do not flash your passport in public. Discreetly show important documents to officials only.
29. Consider purchasing portable alarms that emit a loud sound.
30. Watch for scams on the street. Children working with adults are notorious as pickpockets.
31. Never flash your money in public. Exchange funds with reputable and recognized exchangers only.
32. Have tips ready in advance for service personnel.
33. Consider renting an escort [security] service if traveling in areas where crime is high.

The key to safe traveling in any area is situational awareness. Distractions because of luggage, children, hotel personnel, strangers, etc. can put you at risk. Know your surroundings and stay in control of every situation.

With the cost of petrol still on the rise, more and more airlines the world over are getting strict about how much luggage you can bring with you on board. Savvy travellers know how to pack to kep that weight down.

* Only carry what you need because “weight restirctions change all the time and if you show up overweight, it could set you back a lot. Check the weight restrictions online for whatever airline you’re flying with as airlines vary, I recommend buying a small portable scale to check your suitcase before showing up at the airport.

* I suggest taking valuables in your hand luggage in the (unlikely) event that your suitcase doesn’t turn up at your destination. Keep all medication on you at all times – you might have an emergency on board, plus that particular medication might not be easy to get at your final destination.

* For Frequent flyers, I suggest business travellers pack “a comfortable and versatile outfit that you can not only change into on the flight which you can have as a buckup in case there’s a mess on the flight or you checked in luggage getslost and doen’t turn up – and you should already be travelling in a versatile pair of comfortable shoes.

* Limit the amount of clothes you’ll need by packing colour coordinated items and only one or two pairs of shoes that you can wear with multiple outfits – ditto accessories. If you can’t carry what you’ve packed, you’ve probably got too much.

A lot of the problem travellers face can be avoided with careful planning. Here are few ideas to make sure you get the flight, price and seat you want.

* Thought it’s not always possible to know your travel plans, the earlier you book, the better. Especially during peak times, such as Eid and Christmas holidays and during summer hoildays. Flights often fill up fast, so don’t count on leaving it till the last minute.

* Airlines like Etihad often run special offers, so it’s worth your time to sign up online to receive newsletters and emails from the airlines you use the most. If you’re able to fly during off-peak dates you can save a bundle. Also, comparison shop – if price is really an issue, you might be surprised by what budget airlines have on offer.

* Eithad Airways also advises customers to use the online check-in on its website which is available 24 hours before the flight departs. You’ll have a much better chance of getting the seat you want plus you’ll save time at the airport leaving time for that visit to duty free…

* You can never ask too many questions when it comes to travel visas. Though they should, airlines won’t always make it clear when you need a visa, so be sure to ask – standing at the check in is the very worst time to discover that you need three weks for your documentation to be processed.

* If you have certain meal requirements, booking is the time to make those requirements known. Also remember to confirm upon check in to make sure you get the meals you want in the air.

Did you know that EXIT SIGNS is one of the most important signage that you need to consider if your planning to have a land cruise vacation. I mean, if your considering a land vacation using your own car. Why did I say so? Simply because it will definitely help you find the right way where to go. Specially, if you don’t really know the location. By just using the map and following the exit signs you will definitely arrive to your desired location.

Other than that reason, exit signs has definitely contain a large role if we talk about safety. This will definitely save the lives of many people. Specifically, if we talk about exit signs in construction areas, this means that this place is a safety area where you can rest. Aside from that, this is the best way out if emergency arises like fire and some other critical conditions that might possibly cost life.

But if we will integrate exit sign in traveling, this plays a critical role. Specially, if your riding a car, you should know were is the nearest exit near in your place so that you’ll save your life. Likewise, if your riding a boat, a plane or any other forms of transportation be sure to know, where is the nearest exit signs for you save your life and eventually the lives of your fellow people.

Moreover, I’d like to remind everyone that the most important thing before doing anything is make sure that your safe and yet safety is at high level. Wherever you go and whatever you do, make sure that everything is fine and under control. Be safe everyone!

Winter is past approaching! The coldest season is here again to let us feel the soft breeze of the wind. Its now time to have a great family vacation. Time to spend a holiday season with your friends, relatives, and loved-ones. Choosing to have have a family vacation in this season is indeed one of the best thing to consider unlike during summer which is really hot. Though vacation does not require any month as to when to enjoy but I believed that winter season is the best time to have fun and excitement.

Besides, considering a family vacation is indeed important for every families to renew and rebuild the bonds you had for each other. Its really important that as you travel along in this path we called life especially to those people who do have a family you should be responsive to the needs of your fellow family member. It isn’t about money or other any things but its about happiness, enjoyment, and fulfillment. ‘Cause remember we all work to earn a living and to provide the needs and wants of our family. So, I therefore conclude that despite the busy days you might had at work you should not take forgranted the needs of your family. So, take them for a quite sometime in a beautiful place which you think they will definitely enjoy as far as you do.

Moreover, if you guys are planning for a winter family vacation better plan ahead of time so that you can fixed all the things you need to do prior to your departure date of vacation. Make sure that before you live everything is in order so that they will not keep calling you for specific things while you are on vacation ’cause that was really a pissing thing! So, good luck to those families ho are planning for a vacation! Enjoy!

Each year, more and more women travel abroad alone. Whether they are on a business trip or a vacation, women traveling alone are more likely than men to encounter problems in certain cultures. While few Filipinos would agree with these views or the double standard for women, it is obviously in your best interest to become familiar with the laws and customs of countries you plan to visit and to abide by them once you arrive.

Tips for Solo Travel

Following a few simple tips can help make your trip safe and rewarding.

1. Passports and Visas: Make sure your passport is still valid or, if not, apply for a new one 3-4 months before you plan to travel. Make sure you have any other necessary travel documents or visas for the countries you plan to visit.

2. What to Leave Behind: Leave your detailed itinerary and photocopies of your passport’s identification page and your flight and ticket information at home with a friend or relative. Include names, addresses and telephone numbers of every place you will be staying.

3. Don’t Carry Valuables: Leave all valuables, such as extra credit cards and jewelry, at home. Even costume jewelry poses an unnecessary risk to your safety, because thieves aren’t likely to know it’s not the real thing until after they steal it.

4. Health Insurance: Make sure you have adequate health insurance coverage for your trip abroad and that your coverage includes medical evacuations. If your policy does not cover you overseas, you may need to purchase supplemental traveler’s insurance.

5. Medications: If you take prescription drugs, make sure you have enough to last the length of your trip, including enough extra medication to keep you supplied in case of delays, and bring along your prescription information and the names of the generic equivalents in case you need them. Always carry your prescriptions in their labeled containers, because many countries have strict laws against drug trafficking and may be suspicious of pills in unlabeled bottles.

6. Safety and Security: Stay alert, use common sense, and be aware of your surroundings. If you think you’re being followed, step into a store or another safe place and wait to see whether the person passes by. Don’t be embarrassed to ask someone to make sure everything is safe before you venture out again. If you’re still unsure, call your hotel for assistance.

7. Be Confident: Looking, acting and moving as though you know where you’re going and what you’re doing will prevent you from looking like an easy target and may help you avoid potential danger.

8. Ask for Directions: Before you set out from your hotel, ask the concierge or other hotel staff for directions to the places you plan to visit each day. This will help you avoid unsafe areas and also prevent you from looking confused and potentially vulnerable. If you get lost, ask directions from a family or a woman with children.

9. Hotel Safety: Choose a hotel where security is good and public transportation or taxis are readily available and close by. Once in your room, check to make sure that all of the doors and windows have working locks. If you feel uncomfortable, ask hotel security to escort you to and from parking lots or your room at night. Always use your peephole before opening your door.

10. Clothing: It’s always best to dress conservatively and inconspicuously when traveling. Whenever possible, take your fashion cues from local women. In some cultures, what you consider attractive casual clothing may be seen as provocative or inappropriate, even offensive, which could spark harassment. In addition, your style of dress, or the amount of makeup and jewelry you wear, could make you a more likely target for thieves.

Of couse, not all the time your roaming around the place and looking for some adventure on vacation. Though the plan was that but sometime you need to relax for a while in quite area where you can even reflect and play paintballs or some other games and stuff that might interest you. Well, vacation really allows you to do whatever you want and to go wherever you wanna go. Since, its a vacation you are expected to explore and spend some more quality time with your family, friends and loved-ones(if there is..lol).

Actually, you can even do a master list of all the things you wanna do on your vacation prior to your departure. And a master list for all the places you wanna go. Make sure that all those thing and place are interesting enough to spend your vacation and to achieve an enjoyable and memorable vacation ever. Keep in mind too that aside for considering those things you have to be sure that your budget is enough for the said vacation you want. Also consider the safety measures while traveling.

Bring along with you a medicines that you usually take if in case you really need it. Its better to be prepared than nothing at all. Have a great vacation everyone!

Yikes! I’ll be spending my holidays to Dubai this weekend ’cause I’m quite bored already here in Abu Dhabi. My life here sucks! Its quite boring, tiring and same old scenario which is home to work, work to home. Thanks to my friends who invites me to come and enjoy with them. I actually visited Dubai for several times already with my relatives here in Abu Dhabi. We been to The Dubai Mall where one of the best aquarium is located. Its really awesome and fantastic! Aside from that, we also been to Mercato Mall. Its one of the great structure of Mall I’ve been aside from what I’ve seen in Tokyo, Japan. Dubai has actually a lot of amazing scenery to offer you if you want to visit their place. But before you decide to visit this place you must have to be aware on their weather condition ’cause during May to September this place is pretty hot. But still awesome to visit of course! At least if you’ll decide to be here during those months you’ll definitely catch the hottest place on earth.

Actually, when I first arrive Abu Dhabi last year I was really shock on their weather condition ’cause its really hot but as time passes by I was used on it. For your information you’ll already reached Dubai from Abu Dhabi for about 2 hours by Bus and maybe 1 and half hour by personal car. So, if you got a plan to spend your Holidays in Dubai drop me a message here I’ll meet you too.

Anyway, I’m already half excited on my Dubai exit this weekend. I’ll be seeing my friends there and probably they’ll tour me around to those places I have never been yet like The Pyramids. Wish me luck everyone!
