Photo Hunt Newbie for this blog…

Here is my picture for this weeks theme ” Dirty “….Hope you guys will definitely like it…

” DIRTY BAT SANCTUARY “

I took this picture at IGacos, Samal Island, Davao City, Philippines last February 2007 during the time when I was still working in Wind and Wave Davao a Dive center company. The Bat Sanctuary has the largest colony of Geoffrey’s Rousette Fruit Bats that could only be found in this place. The place is quite DIRTY and the smell is really bad ’cause as you know all the waist of the bats are all just in the cave. But to see those bats is pretty cool! Miss this time… I was the guide for this Sunset Cruise run which is one of the destination is this bat sanctuary which is owned and manage by Monfort Family.

Super picture! Nothing like a little “guano” to equal dirty! That stuff is expensive, isn’t it? Makes great fertilizer!

It is a great photo, but I must admit, I have a HUGE fear of bats!

Wow, that is a very neat photo. I didn’t realize that they all huddle together too. One question, when they poop, doesn’t it fall in their face??? Hmmmmmmmmmm,….
Great photo and have a good weekend.

That’s a fabulous photograph. I’d probably have a hard time in the bat cave but I bet it’s pretty amazing to be there.

I was thinking we have the same bat sanctuary here in the Philippines. I realized you’re a Pinoy pala. :D I went to the Underground River before in Palawan and there were bats inside the cave just like your picture here. Correct, they don’t smell good. Welcome to Photo Hunt!

I love that picture. It is amazing. But then I’m one of those nuts who absolutely thinks the little creatures are cool and adorable too! :D

That would just creep me out… I usually see one or two bats in a cave.. but not that many…

    That is a great picture

Cool but eerie at the same time. I can only imagine the smell, and I would definitely feel very dirty in there.

Fantastic shot! Welcome to Photo Hunt.

It saddens me that bats get such a bad rep when they are one of the most useful (and fascinating) creatures on earth! And fruit bats? What makes them creepy? They eat FRUIT, for pete’s sake!

I think education is what makes a difference. Most people (not all, my sister included, with spiders) don’t fear that about which they take the time to educate themselves.
